Hannah and her pie

Hannah wanted chocolate cream pie for her birthday, so that is what she got. I made it and it was rockin'. We almost started the house on fire with all 10 candles!

Santa dropped by

Santa dropped by on a firetruck (this is a yearly tradition) and I took photos sans Hannah, who was at soccer practice. It is hard to get a good picture with all of these cute and crazy goofballs! Merry Christmas, it's coming!

Ode to a Turkey Sandwich

I Love turkey sandwiches! Not "nasty in the package turkey", but turkey off of the bird the day (or days) after. I like it with stuffing, cranberries, light mayo, salt and pepper on a GOOD piece of bread or a crescent roll, homemade, of course. I don't think there is a tastier food combination. It is a sad day because I think my sandwich days are over since we devoured the meat and there isn't a piece left. I think if I had to answer"what would be your LAST meal, as in LAST meal?" I might have to pick a thanksgiving turkey sandwich. Yummm...I think I will go and warm up some soup, turkey,of course!

The maturity of an "almost" 10 year old

Hannah came home from school today so excited! I put the tree up while everyone returned to school so it was a big thrill to see the tree all a glow through the window. We are decorating it tomorrow, however, too much homework tonight. Hannah said, " Mom, how did you do it?" "Do what?", I said, " How did you get ALL the decorations out, make turkey soup, clean the house, and SHOWER? and do it before we get home???? I love how appreciative she was and how she came to this realization of hard work. The shower part cracked me up. She's GREAT!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful food filled day!!! The boys headed out early to run a 10 K in Sacramento, "Feed the hungry Run", with 27,000 others. Hannah, Georgia and I opted out and enjoyed the extra sleep, plus it's hard to cook and run at the same time. I love this day. I have so many blessings to be grateful for. Enjoy!

Neighborhood Chat

Our sweet little neighbor,Kenji, stopped by for a visit today. He brought his harmonica and played a little "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah" for me. "Pretty good for an 87 year old", Kenji said. He was terrific! He talked a lot about his trip to Costco to buy a Latte Freeze and walk around a bit for some "good Exercise". I told him how Patrick is dressing up as Gen. Douglas MacArthur today and how he had ben studying him for the last few weeks. Kenji is fountain of knowledge for that time period. He spent years in an internment camp with his family, times were hard.I was glad that he popped by for a visit, and that at 87 years old he talks about the years to come.

Daylight Savings,Baby

I cannot even wait to enjoy my extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning. I have been in need of some extra sleep for quite a few days now. So while Sean gets up to head for church meetings,Sunday, at 7:30AM (really 8:30) I will be doing some serious snoozing. Is it crazy to be so excited to get some extra sleep. I think not. I think I am sleep deprived, like the rest of the parents in the world. P.S. Do not wake me up and my phones will be turned off, thank you.

We are the CHAMPIONS, my friends!!!

Sean's team, boys under 14, won the championship game tonight in a huge nail bitter. Final score 5 to 4. Patrick had the last two goals. It was an unbelievably good game. Too bad Sean was out of town on business and couldn't see this victory. Greg, the assistant coach did a fantastic job tonight!!! Thanks to all who came and supported the team. Now we have a "hat trick" of sorts. Three wins in three years playing the same team every time for the championship and they thought they had it the whole season...Victory is SWEET. Congrats, Shamrocks!!! p.s. Pictures will be posted soon

HSM3

All the girls can talk about is when they can go and see High School Musical 3!!! Maybe tomorrow in between soccer games and all of the other madness that Saturday seems to bring! If you've already seen it, let me know what you think.

A popular "rap" at our house

The boys LOVE this!!!

Red Bug

My girlfriend, Val, bought a new car. Her daughter, Julia is one af Hannah's best friends so she took the girls to get a yogurt and drive around with the top down. I think the girls thought they won the lottery!!! Georgia said her dream came true to drive in a convertible. Nothing better than enjoying the journey!!!

Two week break

Yes folks, that's right we have a two week break from school. It started last Friday and the kids don't go back until Oct. 14th. I guess starting school the last week of July isn't so bad now that we've hit our fall break. Life is great when everyone is home and we don't have any homework or school projects to do. I let the boys stay up and watch TLC with me last night. Too funny, it was a show about a Mom and Dad who have 17 kids and went to NYC to visit the Today Show. And I thought helping four kids with homework is a challenge? They are all home schooled too, which is a whole other blog, if you know what I mean. Quite Amazing!!! TLC is awesome...so is October.

Game On

Don't mess with Hannah. She's a scoring machine. She wins every time! I wonder if it has anything to do with the Big brothers teaching her tricks?

Georgia's Birthday

Georgia is now seven and had a wonderful birthday dinner. I made tortilla soup, Josh and Maria's corn muffins(loved them, thanks guys!), spinach enchiladas, thanks for the recipe Martha Stewart. It was fantastic. Sorry, I forgot to take photos of the food...next time. We all had our own individual pizookies for dessert with vanilla ice cream on top. Life is good with tasty food, good friends and a birthday to celebrate.( Notice how tan Georgia looks. She and her two friends found my bronzer, hence the healthy glow!!! )

Georgia

Georgia will turn 7 on Friday. She is a lot like me when it comes to having a birthday week (or month) instead of just one day to celebrate. You just can't do enough birthday fun in one day, right? Carpe Diem

September 11th

How can we ever forget that dreadful day 7 years ago? I know I won't. I was just about ready to give birth to Miss Georgia and very emotional. I don't think we turned off the T.V. for days, just watching the grief stricken families and crying along with them. Who can forget Lisa Beamer and her story of her courageous husband?
As I stood at the children's school this morning reciting the pledge, as I do on many days, I said it louder than normal with more American Pride, I am so thankful to live in America! I don't appreciate people not stopping and pledging, or people talking during the pledge, or people not looking at the flag or people from other countries who take advantage of our Government programs after moving here but can't, out of respect for others, just be quiet while We pledge. I guess I have a lot of "Boy Scout" in me, as a mother of Scouts. Nope, I am just an America who was saddened that day in September and wants a of moment of peace for those who fight for our freedom and those who went before us!
p.s. Happy Birthday Erin G. XOXOXo

Waiting for November...

I am kind of "done" with the Democratic Convention. I am really tired of it taking up so much air time...not that I even utilize "airtime". I am done with Hillary , Bill, Teddy and all the rest of 'em. I am not necessarily thrilled with either candidate this go round, but I am just finished with the convention, that's all. And, I don't need to hear how great and wonderful the democrats are, thank you. Maybe I am just sick and tired of the liberal media, or maybe I am just tired. Good Night.

Got Gold?

O.K., Michael Phelps is unbelievable!!! I think he is part amphibian!!! Move over vampire lovers...How about half man-half fish? (Would that be a "mer-man"?) Michael is a "mer-man".
If I could ask him one question, I would ask him what he listens to on his ipod before he races. I am sure he has some Van Halen or The Killers to get him pumped. Who could race or run without them? I can't...GO USA

Go USA!!!

I am fast asleep last night, finally after a long weekend. I think it was around 11:30 when Sean started screaming to wake up because team USA was coming back for the win in the men's 4oo freestyle relay. Anyhow, I am glad I didn't miss it because it one of those moments that makes me proud to be an American. Michael Phelps was screaming like crazy!!! Jason Lezak was AMAZING! The "Frenchies" looked defeated... Aren't the Olympics great? I LOVE IT!!!

Back to school

Yes, our summer fun has ended! Schedules have returned (DARN IT) and homework has resurfaced...AGHH! Patrick is so "teenager-ish" that he almost wouldn't turn and let me get a picture. He needs to realize that Moms always get their way with pictures.
The other three are still super posers. Especially the girls.
I wish them the best school year ever. Patrick and Sam are the BMOC's- Big Men On Campus...8th and 6th. Enjoy it!
